Hello, I’m Bianca schlotterbeck

I SUPPORT WOMEN to INTEGRATE THEIR TRAUMA and DISCOVER their FULL SENSE of SELF.

My Journey

After a series of traumatic events when I was a teenager I started to feel an extremely heightened sense of threat. I went from happy go lucky to suddenly experiencing panic attacks, paranoia, not wanting to leave the house, constantly looking over my shoulder and jumping out of my skin whenever someone got too close behind me. I had no understanding of what was happening to me, I thought I was going crazy.

I was very fortunate to receive some well timed therapy for PTSD that I truly credit with changing the trajectory of my life, reducing the intense fear that consumed me and allowing me to move forward.

After many years of working in international news, including several years spent in Egypt and the Middle East, I had the strong calling to work with people more directly. I decided to retrain in my 30s in psychology of mental  health and psychological therapy.

I approach this work with lived experience, life experience and professional experience. I combine extensive training in evidence-based, trauma-focused therapies with presence, compassion and intuition developed from heart-centered and spiritual practices, with a focus on creating safety, collaboration and empowerment.

I know from experience that therapy is not always an easy journey as you have to turn towards your pain rather than away from it but without vulnerability there is no growth.

In supporting you to work through and integrate your trauma I will never invite you to go to places of vulnerability that I have not been myself.

(And what it means for you)

My PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

My career in mental health spans for almost a decade, including more than seven years working in the NHS.

This is where I treated many people with PTSD, depression and other anxiety disorders, including being part of a unique pathway for Refugees and Asylum Seekers with PTSD.

I’ve been trained by - and worked alongside - some of the UK’s leading experts in PTSD treatment. I completed training at the highly regarded Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London, and have had long-term specialist supervision from the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma, Woodfield Trauma Service and the Traumatic Stress Clinic - all widely respected for their specialist work with PTSD and Complex PTSD.

As part of my commitment to safe practice, I also prioritise my own self care so that I can remain regulated and present with my clients and aware of my own triggers. I do these things regularly to stay grounded and self-aware in my work with you.

  • Personal therapy or group therapy

  • Supervision of practice.

  • Meditation, Breathwork and Body Work (Kundalini Yoga, Tantra, The Presence Process, TRE)

  • Dance

  • Regular time in nature

Areas of Interest

My future areas of interest include bringing in ‘bottom up’ somatic approaches to my therapeutic work. To work with both the mind and the body to support clients to integrate and release the physiological impact of trauma and become more embodied.

I would also like to find ways of incorporating nature and its healing presence into my clinical practice and aim to undertake nature integration training in the future.
